I Don’t Need Directions!
After the long winters, spring is the time we start planning our vacations and extra traveling. My husband does not ask for directions, he thinks if he keeps driving we will eventually get there. While, I have been known to roll the window down at a stop light, and holler at the person next to me about directions. (Which happened in Amsterdam, as I was inquiring about directions with the lady next to us, the light changed, we took off down the road, the lady hung out the window of her car and handed me her map, waved and was gone.) My husband was so embarrassed, “ I could have found it.” He said, I assured him that our vacation was not that long!!!
Have you ever wondered why men and women are so different in taking and giving directions?
If a man gives directions, it goes like this; Go three miles, turn left, go seven miles, turn right, then go a quarter of a mile and you will see it on your right, you can’t miss it! Now I am blonde and a creative thinker is there a three-mile sign, how will I know? With these directions I could end up in someone’s cow pasture, never to be seen again.
I drive by landmarks, go to Wal-Mart, turn left, go down to the Tasty Freeze, and turn right. Drive to Hollywood Video, turn into parking lot, the place is right next to the shoe store that is having a huge sale, 70% off. You can’t miss it. (Now that is my kind of directions)
Thankfully we decided to get a GPS for the car, saves Lyle and I a lot of time, him from driving all over the country trying to find an address, and me from getting lost. However, in my creative moments I have been known, to second guess the GPS system, and go a different way because, it didn’t look right to me. Only to get lost, have the satellite locate and get me back on track.
It gives me great security and peace in my life to know that I am never off of God’s GPS system. He always knows where I am, and even if I wander off, he has his eye on me. ©
The bible says in, Psalm 139:1-6 A psalm of David
O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!
His loving care sustains, guides, and protects me; I just need to follow his directions. ©

Blooming Where We are Planted
As the snow is starting to leave in Alberta, Canada I see the beginnings of spring starting to come alive. I have been expecting the warm weather, and thinking about the flowers I hope to grow. I learned this week there are over 230,000 to 270,000 species of flowering plants according to David Bramwell (2002), each one beautiful and special in its own way. Do you know how special you are?
For years, I was desperately trying to bloom where I was planted to gain love and acceptance from others. In my world circumstances were never as they might have appeared, I was afraid if people saw the real me, they would not love or accept me. I hide behind a mask, which I called a smile, and I learned to become whatever I thought other people wanted me to be. You know, Perfect Mask—Perfect Life
Although I had a husband and family who loved me, my concept of love was flawed. I thought it had to be earned: If you were good, drove the right car, had the right friends, or joined the right country club, you were loved. If you did not have all those things, or were not in the right social group, you were not loved. I thought love and acceptance could be given and taken at a moment’s notice.
Do you step into the arena of life everyday wearing masks, striving for the right appearance and performing your best for love, acceptance, and approval? I have news for you.
God sees us without the masks and thinks we are beautiful, he loves and accepts us just the way we are, no conditions
Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can’t even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? …If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? Luke 12: 25-28, the Message-
His love is forever, unchanging, and constant, it is unconditional!

Willing to Choose?
When I sit quietly and listen, I can hear God whisper his plans for me.
But I feel I need to remind God, I’ve made my own plans for the day.
“God can you see my busy agenda?”
Some days I have so many plans and goals I don’t want to have my day interrupted.
Have you ever felt like that?
Do I choose my plans which are important and vital to my business and ministry?
Or choose God’s plan for me, stepping out in faith to trust Him.
Serving Him is to enjoy the great adventures He has planned for me,
and knowing I have obeyed his call gives me great happiness.
He is my peace and safe place, the one who loves and protects me.
Could I offer him anything less than my obedience choosing to follow Him?
He is Enough for ME!©
